Social Network Algorithms Are Distorting Reality By Boosting Conspiracy Theories. A very insightful piece by Renee DiResta, web-published by CO.EXIST.

The sub-head: Talk of Facebook's anticonservative stance is in the news, but the issue of what news social networks choose to show us is much broader than that. Just ask the anti-vaxxers.

Fuck sake Expat what a can o' worms me ole mucker.
Without addressing single issues which I am not qualified to speak of. Such as global warming, and the anti-vax lobby. I can say one thing. In my opinion it is certain and absolutely verifiable that governments tells lies. Especially the UK and the US governments. They have previous for this sort of thing. If I was a US citizen, and had the dosh.....would I ever be elected, no matter how cool my policies were if I admitted to being a committed atheist? Not a snowballs chance in hell. So much for separation of church and state. Dawkings opined out that to succeed in US politics you must hide your belief system and pretend to be a God fearing Christian. Therefore if they are willing to tell lies just to grab some power, what else may they be prepared to lie about. Yes the viral YouTube stuff is mostly nonsensical rubbish, but, you must ask yourself is it any wonder people are skeptical of those in power?

Critical thinking should be a compulsory course in schools.

"Without addressing single issues which I am not qualified to speak of. Such as global warming,..."

Everybody including you is qualified speaking about it once one realizes that it is a verifiable and beyond any doubt a matter of fact that global cooling-holes in the ozone layer-global warming-global climate change-anthropogenic climate change is and was a political and economical issue from the start. So yes, if it concerns you, me and the rest of mankind [minus the few tossers who brought it about and the ill informed idiots who chant it like a new religion] one is qualified to speak of it.
