The proximate reason for booking this self-publicizing pseudo-scientist was the 50th anniversary of John Glenn's heroic Mercury mission, orbiting an American astronaut for the first time. Toward the end of hour 1, Hoagland made reference to Glenn's famous appearance on the Frasier comedy sitcom. Hoagland, hilariously, called Glenn's appearance a "scathing indictment of NASA," and proceeded to read Glenn's script as reprinted in Dark Mission p. 542 (2nd edn.)
"Back in those glory days, I was very uncomfortable when they asked us to say things we didn't want to say and deny other things. Some people asked ... "Were you alone out there?" We never gave the real answer, and yet we see things out there -- strange things -- but we know what we saw out there. And we couldn't really say anything. The bosses were really afraid of this, they were afraid of the 'War of the Worlds'-type stuff, and about panic in the streets. So we had to keep quiet."Hoagland & Bara apparently believe this was an example of a NASA astronaut spilling the beans, revealing his true thoughts. Well, first off, it's quite true. Col. Glenn did say that. It was Frasier Season 8, Ep 184, first aired March 6, 2001. Frasier is A COMEDY SHOW. In case Hoagland or Bara is reading this, please let me explain the joke, because you obviously don't get it.
The plot involved the character of Roz planning a radio show about space exploration. In a reversal of their usual roles, Roz is in charge, with Frasier merely booked to narrate the show. Neither of them adapts well to the work situation, and they clash repeatedly. Eventually Roz announces that Frasier is off the show, to be replaced by none other than John Glenn. Frasier, outraged, persists in interfering, and the argument escalates. Glenn sits down in the recording studio and begins the "improvised" monolog that Hoagland & Bara quoted. Glenn's monolog is actually intercut with scenes of Roz and Frasier still fighting and paying no attention to what their celebrity guest is saying.
THE JOKE, Mr Hoagland and Mr Bara, IS THAT THE CHARACTERS ARE SO SELF-ABSORBED THAT THEY TOTALLY MISS SENSATIONAL MATERIAL. In fact they even hand over the recorded tape without having heard it. Just to be quite sure we understand this is a spoof, the producers added a laugh track throughout Glenn's monolog.
Geddit? Geddit? Oh dear me, what clowns Hoagland & Bara are to be sure.....
Parrots and Pilots
Later last night Hoagland trotted out his other total misunderstanding of astronaut quotes, saying that Neil Armstrong, on the occasion of the Apollo 11 20th anniversary, likened astronauts to parrots, saying only what they'd been told to say. Here's what Armstrong actually said:
"Wilbur Wright once noted that the only bird that could talk was the parrot, and he didn't fly very well. So I'll be brief."Armstrong, of course, is possibly the greatest pilot the world has ever known but is also well known for being a poor and nervous public speaker. Is he likening himself to a bird whose talents are the exact opposite? No, of course not. He's apologizing for not being eloquent and saying that therefore he won't speak for long. He's the exact opposite of a parrot.
Later still, Hoagland gave a pretty accurate account of US Space Policy, with all its hiccups and inconsistencies, since the Mike Griffin days, but then spoiled it all by revealing his extreme political naiveté. He said that the Republicans will deliberately lose the presidential election in November, because "somebody" has decided that Barack Obama is the right man to lead us through the 2012 apocalypse.
Even George Noory had a hard time with that one.
James Oberg adds that he correctly anticipated this nonsense three days earlier. His confidential advisory to news media clients, emailed at 10:46 AM CST on February 17, included this paragraph:
15. In 2001 on the TV show ‘Frasier’, Glenn took part in a spoof in which he secretly confessed to encountering terrifying space aliens. As should have been expected, UFO nuts have claimed the scripted satire is actually an authentic admission of truth: search “Glenn, UFO, Frasier”, see http://www.enterprisemission.com/glenn.htm & http://kauilapele.wordpress.com/2011/01/04/john-glenn-discloses-ufo-presence-on-2001-frasier-show-and-a-few-more-astronaut-ical-tales/

Not surprisingly Dick -who doesn't make predictions- is firmly backing barry again (all the more proof "its in the physics"), because THIS TIME he really will tell the world the truth about aliens, "I super special promise... kinda".
I'm glad someone else also picked up on the bit about the Republicans "throwing the election" - so, just to make sure I've got this right, Dick is saying that the whole thing is a charade, that tens of millions of dollars have been spent as en elaborate plan, that no one really wants to win, and that THE single most important issue is ruins on Mars in the tetrahedral crater, which everyone agrees, needs to be revealed - and poor Barry who has been prevented at every turn, is now being backed by the very same people 100% because he's going to be the one to announce to the world, aliens have been found in their ancient honeycomb homes on Mars...?
Surely TPTB and the Military Industrial Complex who, "in this scenario" have been sitting on all sorts of secrets and technology for 70+ years might have something so say about this: or are we to believe that groups so powerful and secret, groups who have toppled nations and directed human history are simply going to allow all their cover-ups to be blown wide open because of a nuclear-powered robot and a few elected officials on either side?!?!
To quote Dick - he is 'sticking his neck out' on this one, so it looks like we'll have four more years of Supreme Emperor barry proving he really is the savior of humanity and leading us all into a new age... but in er, 2016 not 2012... you know, assuming we're not all sitting in some FEMA camp or have been killed by a drone or poisoned by increasing GM foods or contacted cancers for evermore nuclear breakdowns or embroiled in yet more wars - but hey, let's not talk about any of that stuff, think "17x space economy!".
Team Barry for 2016 disclosure!... Unless of course none of it happens, in which case it was only ONE possible scenario, and I'm sure Dick will have an answer why not.
Well I've finally listened to the broadcast (while doing more productive things with my life) and it was typical Hoagland. He went all over the place, bringing in both the Frazer show and the Armstrong quote(I'm surprised he didn't mention Aldrin in the last Transformers movie while he was at it). It's all part of his "television and the movies are REAL!" mentality, where even presidential addresses are really just ways for the elites to send each other sekrit messages.
It's hard for me to judge his analysis of the current space budget fairly because he has too much of it wrapped up in his 2012 "enlightenment" nonsense. What he had to say about SpaceX for instance (they actually have sent a vehicle into orbit and recovered the Dragon capsule), doesn't quite match the reality. So I'm assuming (if he really is reading aerospace blogs and not just making that part up) that he left that part out because it didn't fit his narrative. It makes whatever else he has to say about the topic suspect.
Again we had the "Curiosity and the Lost City on Mars" meme. I really wish Hoagland had spent more time reading actual science books and less time watching watching "Tom Corbet:Space Cadet" when he was a kid. This incessant need to turn the real world into a Heinlein juvenile is quite pathetic.
It's kind of sad too because he could have spent those 2 hours playing space historian instead of trying to push his latest "scenario". That would have at least been a little interesting and had some (though perhaps not much) basis in reality. I really would have preferred hearing (no doubt made up) stories about his life at CBS during Apollo. Sure the stories would have been BS, but they would have been entertaining BS. Ah well, maybe next time.
I did notice a slight factual error with regards to the Shuttle though. Hoagland claimed that it lacked the radio black out during reentry because of the sophisticated electronics on board. According to this it was because the shape of the Shuttle allowed there to be a hole in the ionized air envelope that in turn allowed a radio signal to reach a Tracking and Data Relay Satellite. The same article also states that before the TDRS system was up, the Shuttle had a 30 minute communications blackout during each reentry.
As to his idea about the Republicans, no they aren't really trying to lose the election. It just looks that way at the moment.
This just in over at Hoagland's Facebook page.

According to Tom Bearden, any fissile material on Earth can be neutralized in a moment with scalar weapons/technology. RCH has also pointed to the use of this technology demonstrated on Good Morning America in 1997 to implement a half-life reductionon medical radioactive waste in minutes as opposed to hundreds of thousands of years. So it occurs to me that any World scenario in which the use of nuclear weapons is implied or threatened, is a staged or managed (non)threatening event.

You know, Hoagland has said this about every major international confrontation since the 1980's. It's never as simple as some dipshit crazy assholes wanting to do something stupid and the rest of the world wanting to stop them. There is always some hidden agenda that only he truly understands. You'd think that he'd get tired of riding this dead horse, as reality has a funny way of proving him wrong time and time again, but he doesn't. It takes a special kind of stupid to think you can ride to victory on a deceased nag. It also takes a special kind of stupid to follow the idiot in the saddle.
And now Dick thinks King O' Peace barry is trying to STOP Israel attacking Iran... the same america whose place in the modern world is BUILT on war... the same america who supplies Israel with weapons... the same america who does whatever Israel wants... ???
But if that wasn't ridiculous enough... apparently barry got his nobel peace prize for STOPPING World War 3 years before it was on the cards...
You can't make this stuff up.

Unless...the perpetrators of that torsion attack PURPOSELY screwed up to divert suspicion away from torsion weapons!
Anyone ever wonder what these kind of people think about the world when they walk around every day? I can almost smell their panic sweat and see their shifty eyes every time I read a post, but I can only imagine what swimming in that kind of pool does to your equilibrium. Truly believing that you live in a world where shadowy forces are controlling your country and killing citizens like yourself just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, listening to your every conversation.
Man, you'd never get bored, but it would be hell on your blood pressure.

Prophesied destruction of Damascus imminent?

As the Iraq experience has proved, war with the United States is survivable. The terms of Israel’s “Samson Option” mean war with Israel involving first-use weapons of mass destruction is not.
To Ahmadinejad’s way of thinking, if somebody has to be martyred to the Mahdi’s cause, why not Syria?
Israel’s “Samson Option” is named after the biblical judge who sacrificed himself in order to take his enemies with him. In the event of its impending destruction, Israel’s retaliatory plan involves taking the Middle East along with it.

America faces threats from mad bombers, mad dictators, a unified Russian-Chinese military adversary and a host of other threats. Who wants to be the one to say that, biblically speaking, there is no reason to think one of them isn’t going to happen? But America is not a major player in the last days — she hasn’t even a bit part. I personally believe that one explanation could be that our country and its leadership will be so decimated following the Rapture that we will simply cease to be a major influence overnight.
I prefer that over the alternative.

The 'Great Escape' Misunderstanding
http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=4722
Since Christians who accept Christ were already judged at the Cross, there is no role set aside for the Church in the judgments pronounced because, "Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts." (Revelation 9:21)
Repentance is a necessary condition of salvation, it is that repentance that causes us to seek forgiveness at the Cross in the first place. Since believers in the Church Age became believers by repenting, there is no purpose for bringing the judgment of an unrepentant world on the Church.
The Rapture isn't a 'Great Escape', contrary to popular belief. The Rapture occurs when the restraining influence of the Holy Spirit is removed with the Church to allow the onset of the 7 year period of unrestrained evil that occurs during the Tribulation.
(2nd Thessalonians 2:7)
Christians who accept Christ were already judged at the Cross.

Christ, like JFK - made a lot of enemies... and he contradicts himself.
The Catholic Church adores Jews, and throughout history has formed alliances with rich elitists to oppress the masses. The Vatican hates Hugo Chavez, Leftist President of Venezuela for example.
Name one or all contradictions supposedly made by Christ, Bioillogical unit.
The relationship between the Vatican and Hugo the Yugo is irrelevant as far as you have shown here.
He was a Carpenter in a society without WOOD (oops!)
Sometimes he gave away money to the poor, or he used expensive ointment because he wanted to splurge.
I'm giving up trolling Churchianity for Lent!
Two thousand years or so ago, I suppose folks must have just sat on their fists and leaned back on their thumbs?
Jesus didn't personally splurge on ointment, he merely told everybody to mind their own business if Mary wanted to. Actually, Jesus consistently advocated giving away luxury items.
My life does not revolve around second-hand stories of a Stone mason.
Mary should have sold the ointment, and been fixed by Magical Jesusology.
Mary anointed Jesus for his burial.
What were you talking about, Bioillogical Unit?
To paraphrase Samuel Clemens, "History does not repeat itself. It does, however, rhyme."
Actually, Jesus consistently advocated giving away luxury items.
He lowered the price of those goods, undermining the free market system. He disrupted the taxation of the Romans! Who pays for the Roads, Sewers and keeping the barbarians out?
Hail Caligula! HE built much of Rome! Jesus just died all groaning and moaning.

I'm very glad to act as host to discussions that are in any way related to the topic of the blog. Less glad to host religious discussion.
Richard C Hoagland is the most frequent guest on Coast to Coast AM, which has an average audience of about five million listeners. Richard C Hoagland is the most frequent guest on the show. He has even been conferred the title of science adviser to the program.
In this context, I see Ricard C Hoagland as being the most potentially influential facilitator of what The Bible describes as the great end times deception, which is as much a spiritual deception as it is a political and socio-economic manipulation.
Richard C Hoagland continually references the old pagan rituals which he ascribes to the Masonic oligarchy which he alleges to control NASA. In this context, Ex Pat, you bring up the topic of religion as often as does Hoagland.
I'm not banning religious discussion. I'm announcing that I'll delete posts that incorporate religious hate-text.
Magical thinking is not helping anyone or anything!
I interrupt this religious discussion to talk briefly about our favorite pseudo-scientist residing in New Mexico. On another blog (The Final Frontier Face Book page), we had a brief discussion about how seriously some of us are taking Hoagland and if he is really worth the effort. As one poster seemed to think, since he isn't a real scientist, perhaps we should stop treating him as such.
While I have a certain sympathy for this argument (the paradox of holding Hoagland to scientific standards does treat what he is saying more seriously than it really deserves), I can't ignore the fact that shows like C2C do take him seriously. Since C2C also has real scientists on from time to time, it seems to me that pointing out how much Hoagland is NOT a scientist is a legitimate (pun alert!) enterprise.
In this particular case though, it's hard to argue with Hoagland's logic because there wasn't any. What he spent 2 hours doing that night was to rehash the same silliness he and Bara blessed us with in DM. That tells me that the big "research project" that is keeping him off Face Book probably involves some distilled grain products.
Wrong again, Lopes; Hoagy boasts to drink Tequila, in New Mexico.
I knew there was a distillery involved in there somewhere.
I'm going to Hell along with everyone born before Jesus lived!

Ha-ha, how funny you should ask Bio. For very obscure reasons it so happens I read most of Leviticus just last week. I was appalled. I wouldn't let that bigoted shit on this blog either.
Jesus died on the Cross, descended into Hades, and took the righteous Jews there with him to Heaven.
I recognize only the Gods legally declared by the Roman Senate! The Senators were coerced but that happens...
The Bible is (unfortunately) a product of its time and the culture that produced it. While it has some good things to say (love thy neighbor...), it has some not so good things too. You can't take a book that seems to be in favor of slavery, rape, and incest, as a serious tome on ethics. I just take what I can from the book and treat the rest of it as bronze/iron age fairy tales.
The King James Bible as translated from the texts found at Antioch and confirmed by the more recent discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, contains about twelve hundred Prophecies on more than eight hundred topics, 80% of which have all been fulfilled exactly as foretold. The remaining 20% are all for the future, most of which are for events to take place within a seven year period of time.
Science would so far suggest that this would be impossible, but the facts remain in evidence.
Prophecies on more than eight hundred topics, 80% of which have all been fulfilled exactly as foretold.
----------------------------------
Not that I'm trying to keep the theologically-focused discussion going, but...somehow I doubt that.
Given that James I specifically gave instructions to his translators that the new Bible should be consistent with the teachings of the Church of England, and further acknowledging that the book was based on the Septuagint (the Greek texts of which are only a subset of the widely-varying corpus of Biblical manuscripts), the idea that there a specific set of "***THE BIBLE PROPHECIES***" is pretty goofy.
Also, "exactly as foretold" implies that one-to-one, Aramaic-to-Greek-to-Latin-to-English translations have survived all of the individual scribes that have recopied versions of the scriptures over the centuries. Without modification. Or a single mistake.
I would welcome a link to the list of prophecies so we can all evaluate them for ourselves, but I'm pretty doubtful that any exist that are not HIGHLY susceptible to force-fitting with the beliefs of the individual interpreter.
Deuteronomy 13:1-5
(King James Version)
1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, 2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass , whereof he spake unto thee, saying , Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known , and let us serve them; 3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. 5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death ; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in . So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

Sorry, not interested!
Misti,
Prophecies on more than eight hundred topics, 80% of which have all been fulfilled exactly as foretold.
Please give me one example of such a prophesy. Requirements:
Must have taken place AFTER the Bible was written.
Must be historically verifiable, even to total nonbelievers (the more recent the better).
Must be clear, definitive, not be vague and not open to interpretation.
Must not be in the future.

--------------------------------
I am absolutely certain that most, if not all, words in the KJB are sourced from a Greek text; my point is that there have been innumerable losses, additions, and transcription mistakes over the years, further muddling an original source that is itself highly variable (no two Ancient Greek texts are exactly alike). No unaltered original "Word of God" exists from two thousand years ago.
This is aside from the fact that the Deuteronomy verses you quoted are vague to the point of insensibility. What prophecy (and real-world fulfillment) was that supposed to refer to?
On a Hoagland note, the problems in cross-translating across languages have on a bearing on his insanity as well. He likes drawing the 19.5 and 33 parallels all over the place at Cydonia, but who is to say that the ancient Martians would have used our degrees in their measurement system? Our use of the 360-degree circle comes, after all, from the Babylonian sexagesimal numeric system, and remains a holdover in our decimal society. Maybe the Cydonians had 100 or 1000 degrees in a circle.
In all, seamless translation between cultures is often an impossible endeavor (try looking at Russian linguistic puns). You're bound to lose something along the way, and saying that a culture "must" have been saying a specific thing that is analogous to a phenomenon in the 21st century is naive to the extreme without some pretty substantial evidence.
Greek and Hebrew are not extinct languages. How are international treaties translated, understood, acknowledged, and enforced today?
The King James version is translated from uncorrupted texts found at Antioch, and verified by the more recent discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, unlike the Catholic bible and other translations made from the same sources as the Catholic bible, which are full of errors.
