Hi, only just found your blog and am enjoying the sanity.

But please, please consider changing the colour scheme? White text on black background is a nightmare!

This is disgusting:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/08/29/140036900/nasa-international-space-station-may-be-left-unstaffed

We told them we would do it for free - they said no - and then accused Sword(P) of mischief...

Lying troll! A Superpower needs an obscure blogger to pull their stranded Astronauts out of the ISS. He has a Space ship over Alaska. Not in an Orbit that takes it over Alaska, it is hanging precariously over Alaska. He could have written books about his adventures, alas 'tis only a ruse.

I mourn for the little boy who achieved escape velocity from a boring existence through his lively and fertile imagination. I wish, for that boy's sake, that there had really been room for a 400+ pound Lunar Rover in the Lunar Module (in which there wasn't supposedly even enough room for the astronauts to sit). But hey, it folded, right? This, I think, is the clearest proof (among many) that the lunar landing was a glorious group fantasy, a prop erected by Hollywood East on an elaborate set of the epic film, "American Superiority". Too bad the pride couldn't have been earned, but it is typically American, isn't it, that we conduct our lives as a virtual reality exercise? That we arrogate to ourselves the capacity to create reality rather than merely live in it? Until people gain the capacity to emancipate themselves from identification with Americanism, they won't be able to place this fantasy event, or any other, into the psychological contexts where they really belong. Until then, murdering these myths, dreams and fantasies, once they have exceeded their useful lives, remains a delicate business. Apropos of this, the lunar landing fantasy is being quietly mothballed with as little fanfare as possible amid mumbled assurances of privatization.

BU,
The rover was actually stored in the quad 1 bay on the decent stage of the LM. The astronauts had to be outside of the LM to retrieve it. It was never inside the crew cabin.

Biological_Unit said...

I agree that it wasn't in the LEM.

10,000 dollars a pound is a good reason enough for faking it. If our society can find cheap energy, this opens up the possibility for a new Manned Space program.

So, the Lunar Buggy was stored in a folded condition on the descent stage.
Yes, and this thing was pieced together by Astronauts wearing clumsy pressurized gloves, taking an unknown amount of precious time AND there are no pictures of them doing it?

Isn't this about the Dune Buggy craze that was going on about the same time?

BU,

This is a better (and slower because it is in real time) video of that.

It is of course much easier to cherish a conspiracy theory than to actually bother hunting out the relevant info.

The comic aspect to all this is that when the Apollo sites eventually become tourist attractions these same conspiracy nuts will be claiming NASA (or their secret Nazi space program) quietly planted 'dummy' rovers, flags, ALSEPs, descent stages and footprints just to maintain the GREAT LIE.

Chris Lopes said...

Anon,
That is true enough. On the other hand, having to answer BU's question was educational for me too. I wasn't sure exactly how they handled the rover either until I looked into it. The video was cool too.

No missions are planned.

Anonymous must have a 1000 year lifespan.
That video sure was dark, as if they were "hiding something".

I hardly "cherish" not being capable of getting to the Moon! Everything placed on the Moon was accomplished by Robotic technology.
NONE of the Technologists surrounding this fake event have accomplished anything since! I WILL STERILIZE THIS PLANET THAT IS OVERRUN WITH ERROR-PRONE BIOLOGICAL UNITS!

BU,
I know this won't make any difference, but I thought you might like to find the "flaws" in the new LRO pictures of the Apollo landing sites.

Enjoy. :)

Why get our hopes up? The Private Space Program can't even reach Orbit, and NASA doesn't have a Manned program.

Enemies of the state (or of the church) have been disappearing into prisons for many centuries. There are many precedents for Guantanamo.

Esteban: What a nice thought, I appreciate it. However, I zipped in & out of Barajas and spent most of my time in Galicia, drinking oceans of Albarino and gulping down shellfish as fast as they were harvested from the Rias Baixas.

Well, what a surprise!! Still no Comet Elenin "paper" on enterprisemishmash.com.

expat,
With the comet disintegrating and not likely viewable by the lawn chair and binoculars crowd, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it either. :)
