Bara waffles on Paranormal Radio, Expat rebuts tonight

Internet radio shows just don't know when to stop, it seems. Mike Bara was on yet another last night—listen to it if you must, and if you have 100 minutes to spare. I reviewed it and didn't hear anything new except that in the last three months the attacks on him and his "work" have been "intense, dirty, and underhanded." I'd say the dirt has been flying in the other direction.

The next interminable internet radio show is tonight (Sunday morning, technically) on Paracast, featuring me droning on about the errors in the writings of Hoagland & Bara for two solid hours minus commercial breaks.

Time is midnight PDT, 3am EDT, 8am BST. The good news is that you don't have to either lose sleep or spoil your Sunday breakfast. The podcast will be up on the Paracast site for the next week. The high points for me were my extended rebuttals of "Von Braun's Secret" and NASA's Egyptian God worship. But there's nothing that hasn't been on this blog before, so regular and attentive readers can skip it.

Expat.Bara is a total buffoon but you never actually felt guilty of being the source of such intense psychological trauma upon him?. Where is your Christian compassion?. I`ve never seen a 50 yr old man acting to such extend like a 14yr old mommy's boy.Bara is so terrified of the criticisms,it is embarrassing & pathetic. It reaches a level where I almost feel bad for this miserable man

And now Mike's extolling the virtues of Margaret Thatcher on this, her 'brithday', in a series of soundbites. His fans are savvier than I thought, though. They're not letting him off easily, especially the British ones.

The "Virtues" of Margaret Thatcher are up there with the Ziggy on the Moon. Thatcher fixed the British economy by shutting down the coal industry and a bunch of other industries and creating mass unemployment. David Cameron inherited a similar economic mess as Thatcher did but can't shut down anything since Maggie beat him to it. Also I hear the Argies are itching for the Malvinas back.

Sounds like someone Mikey would worship all right. Birds of a Feather Stick Together as they say. If only Hoagie hadn't gotten stuck worshiping Pharaoh Barry, he might have joined the party too.

Funny how flim-flam people always swing to the hard right. Every psychic, chiropractor and homeopath I've ever met worships Ronald Reagan as a god, blissfully ignoring his record in Latin America.

Expat, I’ve just been listening to your interview on Paracast, and would just like to correct you on one point. When you were responding to a question from a listener about the alledged bridge on Mare Crisium, you said it couldn’t exist because the Mare was about 500 miles across, and a bridge that long would easily be seen.

That’s true, however, “O’Neill’s Bridge”, as it’s called, was never claimed to be 500 miles long, but only about 12 miles long, and didn’t span the whole Mare, but just two of the promontories, Promontorium Olivium and Promontorium Lavinium, near the crater Proclus. Obviously, it wasn’t a bridge after all, but under certain lighting conditions, it looked like one, due to the fan of light spreading out to its right. This made O’Neill think it was sunlight streaming under the arch of the bridge.

This page gives a good overview of what astronomers thought was the bridge, along with photos taken under different lighting conditions, and drawings from various astronomers:

Thanks v. much, Trekker. It's true that I didn't have the full story there. I have to say Stuart Robbins didn't either, because I asked him about it. I knew beforehand all the members' questions that Gene & Chris had to choose from so I was aware that this might come up.

Thanks again.

Expat, You're welcome! As a kid, I used to lap up everything Patrick Moore used to say on "The Sky at Night", and read every book of his I could get my hands on. I remember reading about this ‘bridge’ way back in the 60's, as he was one of those who also observed it.

I always remembered it as a curiosity until recently, when much better resolution imagery became available, that it could be seen for what it really was.

Anytime a corporation changes from being nationalized to privatized or privatized to nationalized, the economic effects are always detrimental to shareholders and the consumers, alike.

John Cooper aka Storm Thor is Hoagland's hacker.

Hackers use proxies. The hacker is not in Texas.

Misti,
Hoagland can't even afford a decent web designer, let alone a competent hacker.

Tara Jordan said...

Good show but you made 2 mistakes
1)Europa is one of Jupiter`s moons,not Venus
2)Your comment concerning the UFO phenomena:"since they are unidentified, that`s the end of the story as far as science is concerned....".
With all due respect, this is tacky.Based on the same logic, scientists shouldn't researched & investigated everything they do not understand?.
I am with Jacques Vallée on this one,I dont understand the scientists epidermic & (or) hypodermic refusal to properly investigate the Phenomena known as "Unidentified flying objects".

Hoagland has complained about his website and facebutt page having been repeatedly hacked. My facebutt accounts have also been hacked, starting during my very, first, facebutt email correspondence with Dick Hoagland. John Cooper and Storm Thor began a barrage of emails an instant messages, trying to overwhelm my attention, while Hoagy was exchanging emails with me. Ever since then, for the past two and a half years, John Cooper aka Storm Thor has been hacking every library and cyber cafe computer that I use to access Hoagland's facebutt page. I can tell because John Cooper emails me and posts on my wall, even when I have those features locked out to everybody but me. Worse that that, within a few moments of viewing Hoagland's facebook page, the computers that I use, that run fine at first, start bogging down, slow as molasses. The usually doesn't happen until late morning. The hacker is a night owl.

http://www.universetoday.com/97774/curiosity-finds-something-on-martian-surface/

Here's something that puts a lie to everything Hoagland and Bara have been saying from the beginning. Curiosity finds some artificial object on Mars, probably a piece of itself that fell out, and
NASA PUBLISHES IT OPENLY!!!!

Note that they don't wait for the DOD, NSA, CIA, FBI, KGB, the Egyptian Gods or the Romulans to approve it. They just publish it.
What's that about a Brookings Report again guys?

Jiminy Oddbird said...

Hoagland must be aware of it. John Cooper claims to be Hoagland's bounty hunter now. Ghost busting if you will. I have reason to think he's Preston Nichols, and ghost wrote Monuments of Mars, but Hoagy cheated him out of the money for it, so he started hacking his websites. Just guessing, though.

Jiminy Oddbird said...

Scroll down.

Plastic cannot be sterilized. NASA sterilizes everything they send to Mars so as not to contaminate the planet. NASA is lying about finding plastic on Mars.

In the live feed the other day, they even referred to the plastic as "the containment". Now if NASA should happen to claim to discover bacteria on Mars, they won't be able to say for certain that it wasn't introduced by NASA.

NASA want's us to believe that they trying to conceal life on Mars, by pretending as if to have dropped plastic on the planet, just like Hoagland does.

Jiminy Oddbird said...

By the way, the Brookings report is not concerned about lower forms of life, or the religious implications of that. Brooking is only concerned about more advanced civilizations effects on human society.

Jiminy Oddbird said...

Whether NASA planted that object or not, it is not plastic. I wonder what it really is, and if it was something actually found at that site? We will probably never know.

Jiminy Oddbird said...

Remember how NASA delayed a press conference about that phony arsenic eating bacteria, to coincide with and steal headlines away from the reentry of the X-37B, after it's having been lost in Space for nine months. Hoagland even went on Coast to proclaim that NASA was disclosing life on Mars, because of that, while that same day, he deleted all mention of the X-37B from his facebutt page.

Hoagland always deletes all mention of the X-37B and the nuclear powered spacecraft, Project Prometheus.

If Expat were a real journalist, he would be writing about that, rather than wasting his time with an obvious hack like Bara.

Misti, at what point did Expat claim to be a journalist?

FlightSuit said...

I take that back Misti, in listening to the podcast, I hear that Expat is, in fact, somebody who's been involved in journalism.

Tara Jordan said...

This is getting utterly boring...There is nothing new going on. Most people around here are rehashing old stories.A couple of months ago when I pointed out that Hoagland took most of his "materials" from Walter Hain "We from Mars" (published in 1979) most "Hoagland specialists"had no idea of what I was talking about. Then I pointed the historiography of Hoagland`s involvement into the Mars ordeal with individuals like James Hurtak & "the new Egyptologists",Hoagland association with Institute like the SRI, and the Genesis of the Martian conspiracies, Again, total blackout and refusal to even look at the facts.Debunkers are pretty good at tackling paranormal bullshits or pseudo sciences, but it comes to dig into the socio-political side of conspiracies, they are as lazy and shallow as their nemeses

FlightSuit said...

"Hoagland specialist" is a great term. I'm going to put it on my resume.

I said Saturn, not Venus -- but you're right of course.

>>2)Your comment concerning the UFO phenomena:"since they are unidentified, that`s the end of the story as far as science is concerned....".

Tacky it may be in the minds of the True Believers, but it does make repeatability a rather severe problem.

I made another mistake, too --severe enough that I asked Gene if it could be cut from the podcast -- but I see no need to grass myself.

Expat,it was a good show.Like I previously stated, I appreciate your dedication to deconstruct Hoagland & Bara`s charlatanism,& educate "the misguided".Call me arrogant, impertinent & ultra skeptical, but I consider we should push the envelop & also question what comes out of the official channels.Regarding the UFO,I do not believe in the ET hypothesis, but the phenomena is real and challenge everything what we know.I am merely proposing a rational & scientific approach to study this phenomena

Art Bell used to strongly solicit for listeners to call in and ask tough questions in the last segment of each edition of Coast, but few people would.

Anonymous said...

Yet now on Coast, the few guests that have called out Hoagland never get invited back

Jiminy Oddbird said...

I keep telling you guys, Hoagland is a spook. Since Clear Channel bought out Coast, the show is controlled just like the rest of the media. It's just a game of good cop bad cop. That might be one reason why Bell got out when he did.

Jiminy Oddbird said...

The only time I ever hear Art Bell totally lose it, was when a caller merely slightly suggested that Art somehow didn't have creative control. Art ranted about that for a good five minutes. "NOBODY TELLS ME WHAT TO BROADCAST. NOBODY. YOU GOT THAT. NOBODY!"

They don't even bother with the good cop anymore :)

Chris Lopes said...

Bell didn't mind hard questions so much because he knew the show was really about him and his personae. The guest was there just to give him something interesting to talk about. If the guest couldn't handle a tough question or two, it was no skin off his nose.

Noory is so bland, the guests are the only things keeping it even half way interesting. So he has to be somewhat deferential to them. He doesn't have the personality to do anything else.

Jiminy Oddbird said...

Art wouldn't usually ask tough questions either. He had explained his approach, a number of times.

He said how it was a five hour show and that there was plenty of time to allow the guest to get all his information out to the audience. Art would always be sure to make a good plug for whatever the guest was promoting. Not necessarily an endorsement, but without criticism in any regard.

Often times Bell would challenge some obvious points of contention, just to emphasize the guests position, but would never argue with or debate the guest, unless he was a regular like Hoagland or Dames. It's hard to get good guests seven nights a week, and Art didn't want to scare them all off.

What really made the show interesting, was the way that Art would interject, when the guest would ramble on, in order to stop and examine in detail a spectacular, yet glossed over point.

Something along the lines of: 'Wait a minute. Hold it right there. You mean to say that you saw the saucer land in your yard, and the aliens got out? How big was the saucer? Did it have lights? Were these aliens the typical greys or what did they look like?"

Noory just lets guests drone on and on, or else he hits them with a total non sequitur. The guest quite often becomes Noory's co-dependant, trying to compensate so Noory doesn't look like a total retard.

Art would wait until the last segment, having bided his time, silently taking note of the guests on big major flaw, then would ask the on toughest question he could think of. If the guest would evade, he'd ask it again. After a third time of evasiveness, he'd figure that the guest just took the long rope and hung himself.

After that, the rest would be all up the the audience.

Red State Blues said...

While I agree that it goes against your own interest if you have a talk show about fringe topics to bring on a guest and just bust their balls for hours, its also a disservice to the listeners to let them go completely unchallenged, and that is the current state of Coast. At the very least Art would make a guest squirm a little and encourage the callers to ask the tough questions, whereas now, Noory is barely present, asking heavily scripted softballs. Calls are heavily screened so as nobody that is going to take the guest to task gets through. (unless they lie their way through the gatekeepers, which results in them being abruptly cut off)

On a side note, maybe its the nostalgia talking, but I don't remember Noory always being so bad. Obviously, he's mailing it in now, but when he first took over and it wasn't clear he'd be getting another contract he seemed to make an effort and was at least passable.

Chris Lopes said...

Red State and Misti,
Art could do those things because his personae was the magic ingredient in the show. He was the mad prophet of the desert (literally, as he was broadcasting from a trailer in his backyard in the middle of Nevada) who was letting us all in on some deep dark secret stuff. So he could make you want to believe in even the least likely of things. It was a lot more fun than Noory's potted plant act.

hi expat.
Loved what you had to say, hated the radio show.
I think you should have a play with windows movie maker. On vista its start button/programs.My crappy effort of a fanboy music video took about 4 days to bodge together, and it's had over 30,000 views on youtube.I didn't advertise it anywhere. You have experience in documentary production - I bet you could make fantastic videos.Once you get the hang of moviemaker,I bet a video is no more effort than a blogpost, but with the benefit of a stronger presence on the 'net.Youtube videos get linked all over the place.
You don't need a couple of 2-faced cowards interrupting you every 10 minutes with irrelevant comments and adverts for scarey apocalypse survival crap.

Don't take Bara's bait..be professional.Stay on topic - don't even acknowledge the existence of the 'douche-bag & queer' jibes.Don't stoop to his level.
All you have to do - all you should do - is attack the 'science'.
A real scientist would be chuffed that somebody cares enough about his research to try kick holes in it - you come back with a stronger argument or admit you were wrong - this is how hypotheses become theories..its the basis for peer reviewed scientific knowledge.

expat said...

Thanks for the encouragement, starkers. I had thought about making a vid out of all this material -- only problem is, I'm used to getting everything totally perfect before release and I can't see myself being able to achieve that with what's essentially an amateur setup.

But I'll ponder it some more.
